Financial Aid
When trying to figure out the best way to pay for your education, it’s easy to get bogged down researching the various government and private loans, grants, work-study programs, and scholarships available to you. At FMU, we know it can be frustrating so that’s why we have Student Finance Officers available to answer your questions and walk you through the process.
What is financial aid?
Did you know that financial aid will help you pay for more than just school? That’s right--financial aid is given to students to help them pay for everything they’ll need to complete their education. This includes: Room & Board, Transportation, School Books and Supplies, Basic Living Expenses, and your Tuition.
What’s the FMU Financial Aid Process?
We like to keep the financial aid process easy, so there are only three-steps involved:
STEP 1 - Speak with a Student Finance Officer
Why start hunting for loans and grants by yourself when we can help you walk through the process? Our Student Finance Officers are up-to-date with the various types of loans, grants, and scholarships available to you. They’ll help you decide on the best route for you to take in applying for loans. After your first phone conversation with a Student Finance Officer, you’ll have a good idea on what and where to apply.
STEP 2 - Complete the Financial Aid Application
If you decide on applying for financial aid, you’ll then be emailed a link to fill-out our online financial aid questionnaire. Our online application is an easy way for us to help determine how much financial aid you will receive.
STEP 3 - Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Many of our students have found financial help by applying for aid through the FAFSA application. The FAFSA opens the door to such aid as the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, the Federal Work-Study, the Federal Family Education Loan program (subsidized and unsubsidized), Stafford Loans, and Federal Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students. Our Student Finance Officers will get you the forms and inform you on the deadlines for the various loans and grants you might apply for.
