Admission Requirements
To help ensure success, Walden's admission process focuses on selecting self-motivated, responsible learners who are qualified for their chosen program and who will benefit from the Walden experience. This includes a careful assessment of your qualifications in relation to the program for which you are applying.
Admissions decisions are based on a number of factors, including the academic degree of interest, and when appropriate, relevant work experience.
Bachelor's Qualifications:
Applicants to a bachelor's-level completion program must either hold an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree from a regionally accredited institution or have a minimum of 45 quarter credits (30 semester credits) of general education and elective course work (or equivalent), including a course in English composition, earned at the undergraduate level from a regionally accredited institution. Applicants must have obtained a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Admission requirements may be modified based on articulation agreements formally negotiated with a regionally accredited community college.
Master's Qualifications:
Applicants to a master's-level program must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Some master's programs require two years of professional experience. Specific requirements vary by program and specialization. Applicants must have obtained a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Applicants with lower G.P.A.s may be accepted contingently.
Ph.D. Qualifications:
Applicants to the Ph.D. in Psychology or Ph.D. in Public Health program may have a bachelor's or master's degree. Applicants to all other Ph.D. programs must have a master's degree. Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution and be related to the program or specialization of interest. Most Ph.D. programs require a minimum of three years of professional experience that is related to the program or specialization of interest. Applicants must have obtained a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Applicants with lower G.P.A.s may be accepted contingently.
Computer Skills:
Applicants to the course-based programs should possess minimum online and Internet capability, with reliable access to a computer and the Internet, and KAM-based students should have a working knowledge and understanding of computers, but computer literacy is not essential.
